Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

I know this is an early announcement but we want you to have this information on your calendar early in order to help up prepare for the day. Our annual Run with the Knights will be held on May 19th in the following order:

  • 8:00 to 9:15         7th grade race
  • 9:20 to 10:40       6th grade race
  • 12:40 to 2:00       8th grade race

I am including the link to a sign up genius if you are interested in volunteering to help out. We have several stations/check points throughout the neighborhood that we need parent volunteers to supervise. If you have any questions please contact Mr. Blake or Mrs. Ostoff in our PE department.

Talent show informational packets will be available for pick up by the choir room and gym on Tuesday, February 10th. Students need to complete the packet in order to audition.

We will take our annual panoramic picture for all 8th grade students next Wednesday the 11th of February. Order forms were distributed during homeroom today. Check with your student for the form. Again, this is for our 8th graders only!

The 2015 Colorado Middle School all state choir will perform tonight at the Bellco Theater at the Colorado Convention Center. Newton had six students selected out of more than 1,000 students who auditioned, only 300 students state wide were accepted. Derek Fernandez, Jayson Glidden and Leif Olson were selected for the all-state men's choir and Janie Egan, Madeline Farr and Campbell Finch were selected for the all-state treble choir. Congratulations to these students and to Ms. Andrews our performing arts teacher.

You've got mail! In the coming week, every Newton family will receive our new Discover Newton postcard in their USPS mail box. We've created this piece to share with you and our broader community the wonderful things happening at our school. From or recent ranking as the 4th best Middle School in the Denver Metro area, to our students' advancement in Math scores, to our STEM, Arts and leadership opportunities, we want you and your students to feel proud of their accomplishments and our school community. Please be on the lookout for this important mailer and feel free to share with families outside of our community!

Enjoy the beautiful Colorado February weather. Have a great weekend.

Respectfully,
James O'Tremba
Principal,
Newton Middle School
