Good Evening Parents, Guardians and Students:

The Best Two Minutes You Can Spend This Weekend:

In only a few clicks, you can link your King Soopers/Kroger brands rewards number to Newton Middle school and we can earn passive income every time you buy groceries. This adds up. Some LPS schools earn thousands each year from this program and don’t forget to ask your neighbors and grandparents…anyone in the country who shops at a Kroger brand grocery store, to link up with Newton.

Please see the attached flyer from PTO for instructions to link your King Soopers account to an ongoing fundraising event for Newton Middle School. Newton will receive a stipend each month based on the amount of money spent for our cumulative accounts. In the past this was a gift card based opportunity at King Soopers, this is much more simplified and is ongoing without you needing to do anything except take two minutes to identify Newton as your preferred organization and link your account. I did this today for our family account and it took me longer to write this blurb than link my account. Please consider helping PTO raise money for Newton through your regular shopping at King Soopers!

GIVE TO NEWTON ON COLORADO GIVES DAY!

We’re down to the final few weeks to promote giving through the Newton Annual Fund and if you need a reason, give on Colorado Gives Day…December 8. It’s been a difficult year, but Newton Knights are resilient. Without your support, the PTO will have to make cuts in our programming: cuts to teacher grants, cuts to staff appreciation, cuts to classroom enhancements. We’re only about 50% to our goal of $30,000. Please consider donating to Newton on December 8 in honor of Colorado Gives Day. For more information and to donate online, click here.

The Yearbook needs your photos from home now more than ever. Since we aren't together at school we are unable to collect any more great pictures of students in our regular environment. So instead, we are looking for WINTER PHOTOS - activities in the snow, cozy indoor photos, family game nights, and holidays. If it's winter related, we're interested!

Also, just a reminder that the yearbook is FREE for all students this year only as it is our commemorative book before moving to our brand new building. So if you are interested in ordering an 8th grade baby ad, that would be the only thing for you to purchase. We are buying a yearbook for every student.

Please contact Karin Svigel at ssvigel@lps.k12.co.us with any questions.

Eighth Grade Drama Virtual Performance:

If you are interested in attending, next Friday, December 11 at 6pm will be our 8th Grade Drama Production: 10 Ways to Survive Life in a Quarantine. It will be available at this link: https://sites.google.com/lpsk12.org/newtonplayfall2020/live-stream

The students have done a really fabulous job of putting this together! This play was written back in April after quarantine began and is meant to be performed virtually. Because of our issues with Google Meet, we will be streaming a prerecorded video instead of truly performing live.

Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.

James O’Tremba

Principal, Newton Middle School
