August 27th, 2021

 Good Evening Parents/Guardians and Students:

DAY LOCKER INFORMATION:

Our day lockers are finally ready for student use. As the name implies these lockers will not be assigned to individual students. The lockers will be available on a first come, first serve basis each day. Students will need to select a locker, place their own personal code into the locker and secure it. Students can use the locker for the day and are expected to remove their items at the end of the day. Please see the attachment for specific instructions.

PTO:  Annual Pledge Drive Fundraiser

Every year the Newton Middle School PTO holds ONE primary fundraiser…the PTO Annual Fund Drive, where 100% of donations are directly deposited into the PTO account. This means there are no fees withheld by third parties, no students serving as sales force on their neighborhood streets during a pandemic, etc.

This year our goal is to raise $30,000. We are recommending a donation of $150 per family which equates to less than a dollar-a-day that students are learning, whether in the classrooms, or virtually at home. But, please know that EVERY GIFT COUNTS.

Please click here to access the Newton website to learn more about the annual fund drive.

Dear NMS Supporter, You can help our school win a prize of $350 to $2,500 from The Streets at SouthGlenn’s Street Smarts rewards program.

It’s Easy! Between August 15 and April 30, shop, dine or watch a movie. Log receipts online 24/7 at shopandlog.com/southglenn. Visit shopandlog.com/southglenn to see how Newton Middle School is doing in the competition, sign up for email reminders, plus a link to the shopping center store information and shopping hours.

The north gate from Little Dry Creek Park has been open for a week for student use.  Students will still need to enter the building from the west side, sixth grade students will continue to use the main entrance, seventh and eighth grade students will enter at the athletic entrance.

Just a reminder for all parents/guardians, if you need to pick up  your child during the day for appointments or to take them out of school early, please call ahead of time. You can leave a message on the attendance line 24 hours a day. This will enable us to send a pass for them early and they will be ready and waiting for you when you arrive. This is especially important if you are picking up during lunch. It is almost impossible for us to find students in a timely manner during lunch.

Have a great weekend. One more week until Labor Day.

James O’Tremba

Principal, Newton Middle School
