Dear Newton Parents, Guardians and Students,
What a wonderful first week of school! It was such a great start to the year! The staff have spent the week getting to know your students and creating opportunities for the students to create new friendships! The kids did a great job of navigating coming to school and getting back into the swing of things here at Newton. We are so grateful to have such wonderful students! We will have a regular week, this week, starting at 8:20 on M/T/Th/F and 9:20 on Wednesday.
Tardies
We believe it is imperative that students are in their seats when the bell rings. Realize that school starts at 8:20, but the doors open at 8am. If you drop your child off at 8:18 or 8:19, they will be late, as our school is large. Students are expected to be in their classrooms, not just in the building, when the bell rings, or they are tardy. Please work with your children to be on time.
Odd/Even Day Schedule
EVERY Monday and Thursday will be Odd. EVERY Tuesday and Friday will be Even. We will alternate back and forth on Wednesday’s Odd/Even. When we do not have school on a Monday, that Wednesday will be ODD. If we do not have school on Friday, that Wednesday will be Even.
Parking Lot/Traffic
We have been working with the City of Centennial since we opened just over three years ago and we will continue to do so. The new lights have some features that we are hoping to change and we will let you know when those changes occur. We are working to get these lights working in a manner that helps us to keep our parking lot flowing in the morning and the afternoon. I will say the earlier that you show up to drop off your children in the morning, the easier it is to get out, so feel free to come early. Lastly, Parents, please know that our Bus Loop at the North of our parking lot is for buses only.
8th Grade Track
We had our informational 8th Grade Track Meeting today. Practice starts on Monday (Aug 19)… if you are interested, please reach out to Mrs. Mater or Mrs. Neel.
Beauty and the Beast Musical
Auditions will start soon. Students that are interested in auditioning, please sign up at the door outside of the Choir Classroom. Additionally, sign up on the Google Classroom page for materials! The Dance Audition is THIS Thursday (Aug 22) from 3:40-4:40. There is a late bus to take students home that would normally ride the bus.
FIRST PTO Meeting is this Friday (August 23)
We will have our FIRST PTO Meeting of the year this Friday at 10am. Please report to the main office and we will have students escort parents to the meeting in one of our classrooms!
BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT THIS THURSDAY!
This Thursday, we will have our Back to School Night. Please be sure to attend if you can. It goes from 6pm-8pm. This is for Parents only.
Rex Run
The Rex Run for Pawsitivity is coming soon. It is on September 7th from 7am-Noon at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds. The proceeds for this event will specifically support the mission of Back the Blue K9 Force. For more information, check out www.rexrun.com
