Ugly Sweater Day
Nutrition Services is excited to announce their December promotion. We will be hosting a festive sweater day on Friday, December 13th. For this promotion, we are encouraging all students and staff to come eat lunch with us with their most festive, silly, sweater! The school with the highest participation will win a hot chocolate day at lunch the following week. Let’s win this!!!
Dress Code
Just a friendly reminder that we do have a dress code and one of the things kids can NOT wear is pajama pants, unless it is a special day that we share. Students have been warned this week that they will be sent to the office to get a change of clothes if they are breaking the dress code.
We will be pulling a group of parents, students and staff together in March to discuss our current dress code to look at some possible changes for the 2025-26 school year.

Attendance Letters (8 day)
The district policy around attendance letters is that we are supposed to send letters when students are at eight-days of absence. It does not discriminate between excused or unexcused absences. If you have received a letter, or receive a letter, please know that we are just notifying you that we are aware that they are at eight days of absence. When we are concerned about your children’s absences, your child’s grade level administrator will follow up with a phone call or email. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns.
Centennial Jingle Jam
Hi Newton Knights! Looking for something fun to do this weekend? Our very own Knight Notes will be performing at the Centennial Jingle Jam tomorrow! Stop by Centennial Center Park at 1:45pm to hear them sing and enjoy free cookies and hot chocolate at the park!
NJHS
NJHS will have their next meeting on Monday December 9th right after school. November hours will be collected at this meeting. Absences would need to be excused if necessary as it is a mandatory meeting.
Climate, Safety, and Wellness Survey for Families
Please help us build a safe, healthy and inclusive school by taking time to participate in this year’s Climate, Safety and Wellness Survey for LPS Families. This brief survey helps us gather your feedback about the school environment and important issues for students and families. The survey is administered electronically and the results are completely anonymous (no names are recorded and no identifying information is attached to specific responses).
The survey will be open through December 13, 2024. If you have children at multiple schools, you can choose to complete a survey for each school. After the survey is administered, the data will be compiled and shared with each school community. Please visit the LPS website for more detailed information about the survey content.
Please complete the Climate, Safety and Wellness Survey for Families.
Thanks for taking time to provide this important feedback. We look forward to reviewing the information and continuing to make NMS and LPS a welcoming and supportive community to all.

High School Visits for current 8th Graders:
Arapahoe High School Info:
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Arapahoe High School continues to be a leading school in the south Denver Metro area focused on our excellence, tradition and innovation! As your current 8th graders, the Class of 2029, start exploring their high school options we hope they will consider our storied institution to Become A Warrior!
AHS is excited to announce the dates for our popular Shadow Day program. This is an incredible opportunity for current 8th grade students as Shadow Days provide a unique perspective for future warriors to experience the Arapahoe High School culture alongside current Warriors. We continue to encourage parents/guardians to participate in the day with their children. While students are observing classes, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of our principal, Mrs. Natalie Pramenko, and take a tour of our building.
Due to overwhelming interest, we have added an additional shadow day session for Tuesday, December 10th from 8:00-10:30 am. This is the final shadow day opportunity for this year. I would appreciate it greatly if you can share this information with your 8th grade students as they explore their high school options. Students can sign up HERE. I've also included a slide if you want to include it in your announcements. Thank you so much and please let me know if you have any questions.
