November 9th, 2012

Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians:

Thanks Newton families for your donations to our Brighter Futures Pledge Drive. We have reached $20,797 of our goal of $24,000. If you haven't already donated, please consider doing so to help us reach our goal for the 2012-2013 school year. You can donate by going to the front page of our website or contacting us here at Newton Middle School. The money donated is tax deductible and 100% of the money goes directly to our school. Just this year PTO has funded $4000.00 in PTO grants to our teachers and funded almost $11,000 toward the purchase of science probes and equipment for our science labs. Please help us attain our goal! Thanks for your continued support.

I’ve had some concerns brought to my attention about safety in the east parking lot. I know that school parking lots can be very busy for a short period of time during the day and that when dropping off students most of you have work to get to our a busy schedule for your day. I want to remind everyone to be careful, considerate and respectful of others. Our concern is that all students are safe as they are dropped off. Thanks for helping us ensure the safety of our students!

I want to bring to your attention that our website been restructured. We are updating pictures of students on a regular basis and are trying to keep the site as user friendly as possible. We have redesigned the format and are prioritizing what is presented on the main page with easy accessible buttons/links to take you to information. We have added a section for prospective parents and will be including additional information regarding the school in that section. I appreciate the input of our PTO at our last meeting as they gave us several excellent suggestions.

We are expecting cold and snow this weekend. Please remind your students to dress appropriately for the cold weather next week. We have been spoiled with a beautiful fall and don’t want students to be caught off guard next week.

I hope everyone has a great weekend. Please contact me with any questions or concerns.

Respectfully,

James O’Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
