April 25th, 2013

Dear Parents/Guardians:

I am happy to report as I am writing this that it is not snowing! That is an improvement over last week at this time!

I want to remind everyone that the permission slips and fees for our end of the year field trips are due tomorrow. Sixth graders should turn their slips and fees into their third hour teacher and the seventh and eighth grade students are turning their slips and fees into us during their lunch time. If you have any questions regarding the field trips please let me know. The field trips are held the last day of school with the eighth grade going to Elitch’s, the seventh grade going to Fun City, and the sixth grade going to Brunswick Zone. Permission slips are found on our grade level web pages and in our main office. If you are planning on your student not attending the field trip please send us a note or call the attendance line and excuse them.

I have attached a letter from our district food services department containing all of the information for our summer school food programs this year. We are asked by the USDA and the CDE/Office of Child Nutrition to promote our summer program to help feed children who will not have easy access to food when school is out.

On May 1st invitations will go out to all eighth grade students regarding continuation. We will distribute the invitations to the students at school so keep an eye out for the invitations next week. We are also looking at holding a dance for eighth grade students only after school on May 9th. We will have additional information out from our student council with prices, times etc. This information will be in our announcements and in my weekly update next week.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Respectfully,
James O’Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
