September 20th, 2013

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

The Littleton Stride is coming up on October 27th at the Littleton Museum/Ketring Park.  We need YOU, your mom, your dad, your brothers, and sisters, aunts, and uncles to register under Newton for the 5k run/walk, 10k run/walk, or the kids fun run.  If we get 100 students registered for the Littleton Stride teachers will dress up for you during the race. Students will choose the outfits to be worn for Ms. Plegge, Ms. Burns, Mrs. J Andrews, Mrs. Gardner, Mrs. Jenkins, and Mr. Wyckhuyse. Ms. Plegge will also give any student that brings in their bib number a code card for being caring, open minded, disciplined and engaged!!! To register for the Stride please visit the link on the Newton Webpage. Sign up as soon as possible, remember we need at least 100 registered to see your teachers look ridiculous while they run. If you have any questions please contact Ms. Plegge.

I was informed this morning by a parent of one of our 6th grade students that many of our 6th grade boys are partaking in a game called “Man Test” and are rubbing their arms with erasers until they are raw. This has been around forever and can be quite dangerous. The son of the parent I spoke with contracted a blood infection and ended up spending most of the night in the emergency room with an antibiotic IV drip. We did an announcement at school today and we are keeping an eye out for this at school. Please speak with your kids regarding this behavior and how serious of a health impact it can have on them.

Picture retake day is Thursday, September 26th in the library.

Attached is the Littleton High School flyer for their freshman showcase.  The information for both Littleton and Arapahoe are also posted on our website on the parent tab.
I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Respectfully,

James O’Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
