Dear Parents/Guardians:
I just want to give you a brief reminder regarding our
parent/teacher conferences. We will again be conducting arena style conferences
and holding conferences on two separate evenings this year. We will split the
evenings according to alphabet. On October 16th student’s parents with the last
names beginning L-Z will attend conferences and on October 17th student’s
parents with the last names A-K will attend. The time frame for both evenings
will be from 4:00 to 7:30 pm.
Our 6th grade teachers will be located in the cafeteria,
our 7th grade teachers will be located in the library and our 8th grade
teachers along with our Multi-Level teachers will be located in the gym.
We have instructed our teachers that the purpose of conferences
is to give you, the parent a brief update and report regarding your students
first quarter progress. We would like the time to be limited to five minutes
per teacher. Feel free to visit any or all teachers you would like, do not feel
you have to visit all teachers. If you need more than the allotted amount of
time please contact any teacher and set up an appointment for a more detailed
conference.
To prepare for the conference please log into the parent
portal to access your child’s most recent progress grade. It is important to
remember that the official report card is given at semester time and the grades
you are currently receiving are the nine week progress grades.
This year we will again be sponsoring our annual
Halloween Dance. I will send more specifics around costumes and the format of
the dance as we get closer to the day of the dance. For now the Newton PTO and
our PBIS Committee will be sponsoring the dance for all students. At this time
we need volunteers to help chaperone or sponsor or supervise an activity. If
you are willing to help please contact us here at Newton and we will get your
name to our PTO.
I want to remind everyone that tonight Arapahoe High
School will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary and will be
hosting an open house from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. everyone is welcome.
Have a great weekend!
Respectfully,
James O’Tremba
Principal, Newton M.S.
