Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians:

We will be conducting Arena Style Conferences on October 15th and 16th. All parents are welcome. In order to avoid congestion and long lines we invite our parents to conference on an assigned evening. Last names that begin with the letters M-Z will conference on Wednesday, October 15th and last names that begin with the letters A-L will conference on Thursday the 16th. The conferences will be held from 3:30 to 7:00 pm. The sixth grade teachers will be available in the cafeteria, seventh grade teachers will be available in the library and our eighth grade teachers, elective teachers and specialists will be available in our gym. Additional information is posted on our website.

We are beginning a Lunch Bunch intervention program this Friday for students that are not performing up to the Newton CODE of excellence, in regards to motivation, work completion and engagement. The purpose is to pull students in during their lunch periods to complete their missing work and to catch them up. We are beginning with students who have multiple D's and F's. We will run the lunch bunch groups on Monday's Wednesday's and Friday's. If your student is being pulled you will be notified ahead of time by e-mail. We are initiating this process to ensure the success of all students here at Newton. Students will bring their lunch with them and will complete their work as they eat.

I am attaching a document from the LPS district office regarding school safety. This is a parent guide to safety and emergencyprocedures in LPS. I suggest that each family print a copy of the guide, review it and keep it handy in case of any emergency that may occur.
