Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians:

We are finally beginning to emerge from the freezer. Having been raised in NE Montana, forty miles from Canada I kind of enjoy this weather....at least for a short time. I hope everything went well for your families during the cold weather. I know the weather can cause stress, especially if you have any car, furnace or other types of weather related issues.

Ms. Andrews shared with me this week the following announcement:
Newton has six students who auditioned (out of 10) who were accepted into the second annual middle school all-state choir. These students were chosen from around 800 students from the state, this is a huge honor for the students and for Newton. These students will represent Newton Middle School in February:

Derek Fernandez, Jayson Glidden, Lief Olson, Janie Egan, Madeline Farr and Campbell Finch. Great job and congratulations!

Mission Hills Church is sponsoring a restoration service for Arapahoe H.S. and the community on December 13th. This is a community sponsored event, not an LPS or Arapahoe H.S. sponsored event. However, the district has approved for us to distribute the information. The following link has specific information regarding the service.

In conjunction with our PTO, our building leadership team and staff we are in the process of reviewing our mission and vision here at Newton. This is a process that should be reviewed about every five years. Our goal is to find a purposeful manner in which to get the Newton story out to the public and market ourselves in a positive manner. We will be creating student videos, marketing information, reviewing our website and prospective parent information etc. In the near future you will be seeing the results of our work. This is an exciting time and I appreciate the help that we are receiving from our parents.

We are also in phase II of our remodel of the mini-theater. We are hoping to install new carpet in the mini-theater over winter break and then have new auditorium style seating installed this winter/spring. Some of the financing from the project will come from PTO which is a direct result of our Brighter Future Campaign. If you have not had the opportunity to give to our fund raiser please check the front page of our website for additional information.

One week left to Thanksgiving Break, remember we have the entire week of Thanksgiving off. Enjoy your weekend, stay warm.

Respectfully,
James O'Tremba
Princpal, Newton Middle School
