Good Afternoon Parents/Guardians:
As I write this afternoon I am looking out the windows
and enjoying the beautiful Colorado winter weather. It is amazing how our
weather can fluctuate. So, enjoy the weather this weekend as we have a three
day weekend. I want to remind you that we do not have school on Monday in order
to observe Martin Luther King Day.
I am including a link to the NICHE website in this
message. Newton was ranked as the number four middle school in the metro area.
I also would like to point out that the three schools ranked above us are
schools of choice and one of them is strictly a gifted and talented school. A
school of choice basically means that those schools determine the students who
can attend their school through some type of selection criteria as opposed to a
traditional public school that accepts all students within their attendance
boundary. We are very proud of this ranking and we appreciate the support of
our parents/community/staff/s students as all of you play an important role in
the success of our school.
Next week we will resume Lunch Bunch on Wednesday. The
administrative team along with our social worker pull students who have failing
grades in at lunch to assist them with their work and to review any missing
assignments and get them completed and turned in.
This week in the announcements we have been encouraging
students to begin brainstorming ideas for our third annual talent show that
will be held in March. Additional information regarding the talent show and
specific criteria will be sent out in the next couple of weeks. If you have any
questions regarding the talent show please contact Ms. P. Andrews or Mrs.
Ohstoff.
Have a great weekend and enjoy the weather before it
turns.....again!
Respectfully,
James O'Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
