I want to officially welcome everyone back to school. We are off to a great start. I have some important information for you regarding the school year.
We are trying something different with our pick up and drop off this year. In the mornings we will have student drop off in the North West parking lot only. The buses will access the bus loop in the East parking lot each morning.
In the afternoon when school releases, we will have student pick up in the East lot only and the buses will pick up in the North West lot. When you access our East parking lot please do not park along any of the fences that are marked no parking. This often becomes a problem as this blocks traffic flow and people who are attempting to leave parking spaces.
Our PTO is again conducting our annual pledge drive. This is the only fundraiser we do all year. The money always goes to improvements in the school for our students. This year the money pledged will go toward us upgrading our sound system, lighting, adding a drop down screen to the gym and the cafeteria. For additional information regarding the pledge drive please visit our Newton website, click on Explore at the top of the page, then click PTO, and finally click on the Newton Discovery Fund Drive.
A reminder to parents that you need to call or e-mail us regarding any absences. Excused absences are listed on page four of the Newton Middle School Student Handbook. The handbook will be distributed to all students in homeroom today. If you are taking a vacation or your student will be out of school for any reason other than what is listed as excused you will need to notify the appropriate grade level administrator before the absence will be excused. The grade level administrator for sixth grade is Mrs. Rahne, for seventh grade Mr. Wyckhuyse and I supervise the eighth grade.This needs to be done within 24 hours of the absence. Again, all attendance information is located on page four of the student handbook.
Our back to school night will be held next week, Thursday, August 25th. The schedule for the evening is attached. Our parking lots will fill up quickly, you may need to park in the neighborhood or utilize parking at the Salvation Army. We look forward to our parents visiting and gathering additional information about the school.
