Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

Many thanks to 25% of all Newton families who have helped raise more than $23,000.  Our goal is in sight!

The NMS Discovery Fund Drive is THE PRIMARY ANNUAL FUNDRAISER at Newton and needs everyone’s full support.  Let’s meet the $25,000 goal, or better still exceed it to help upgrade AV equipment and fund all the other learning enrichment programs that benefit every student.

10 DAYS TO GO FOR US TO REACH THE FINISH LINE ON OCTOBER 31!  Feel great and donate your tax-deductible donation today here or drop off a check payable to Newton PTO in the school office NEXT WEEK.

We’re counting on you!

A big shout out to the Public Service Credit Union - DTC Branch for their generous corporate donation to the Fund Drive.  Such a great community leader is to be celebrated!

Our annual Halloween dance/party is quickly approaching. This is always a highlight of the year for our students and an enjoyable afternoon. Our PTO helps sponsor the event. We will have a
DJ, students can dance and we have many other great activities including a cake walk, photo booth, food etc.

Each year I outline costume guidelines. We will not allow any masks that cover students faces, we need appropriate costumes according to our school dress code, no extremely bloody or gory costumes and this year we will not allow any clown masks or costumes. Our administrative team will make a final decision on whether or not costumes are appropriate. If you have any questions regarding a costume for your student please feel free to contact any of the administrative team.

Thank you to those of you that have already filled out the climate survey for NMS.  We are currently about 15% of our families filling out the climate survey.  Our goal is to get to 35%.  If you haven't filled out the survey for Newton yet, please consider doing so over the long weekend!  The survey will close at the end of the month.

Thanks to all of our parents for attending our first quarter conferences. We are looking forward to the second quarter. Please remember our first quarter grades are progress grades only, our final report card grades will be recorded at semester time.

I hope our students enjoy the long weekend. I know several families are traveling so be safe over the break and we will resume school on Monday the 24th.

Respectfully,
James O’Tremba

Principal, Newton Middle School
