Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

Parent Teacher Conferences

Will be held on Wednesday, October 18th from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. These conferences are for any parents who are interested in attending and will be arena style. Teachers will have approximately 5 minutes for you to check in with them and have a brief update on student progress. 6th grade students conferences will be held in the cafeteria, 7th grade in the library, 8th grade, elective and special education teachers will be in the gym.

The grades that will be posted next week are quarter progress grades only. We will post final grades for students at semester time in December. If you have any questions feel free to contact any teacher. E-mail is generally the best manner in which to contact the teacher.

This year the district has replaced the MAP testing with i-ready testing. The elementary schools switched to i-ready testing a couple of years ago so you may be familiar with this test. We will be sending the fall i-ready test results home with students on Monday, October 16th so expect those home Monday evening. There will be a letter from Patti Turner, Director of Learning Services regarding the testing. If you have specific questions please contact Patti’s office.

Homeroom Competition Fundraiser Update From PTO

Mrs. Ebel's class jumped in the lead over Mr. Atherton's class and the competitions for 1st and 2nd are tight in the 6th and 7th grades.  The competition is still wide open for any class to jump in and take over the lead.  There are many classes that are close to the top 3 in each grade: 6th grade: Mr. Wilmes, Mrs. Osthoff, and Mrs. Mack homerooms; 7th grade: Mrs. Sutton, Mrs. Timinski, Mrs. Rodrigue, and Mrs. DeSantis homerooms; 8th grade: Mrs. Bryan, Mr. Goodreau, and Mrs. Andrews homerooms.  And any class can add just a few more donations to get in the competition. The deadline for participation in this donation campaign is October 31, 2017.  Donations can be made online or in person. Get excited! Get involved! Feel great, donate!

Save the date for the next Newton Community KNight!  Please join us on Tuesday, October 24 at The Garlic Knot at Arapahoe & Holly anytime from 4pm-close.  Mention Newton and 25% of your bill for dine in or take out will be donated back to our school in support of our Annual Fund Drive.  Please spread the word and see you there!

We are in need of volunteers for our annual Halloween Party on October 31st. Please access the links below if you are interested in volunteering. The first link is to volunteer to help with the student government and PTO with the haunted house and the party. The second link is to donate food to the party. Our PTO and student government do a great job with the party so please consider volunteering your time and helping them out!

Have a great weekend.
