September 29th, 2017

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

Picture Day:
Monday, October 2. All students will have their picture taken for the yearbook and for their student ID’s on Monday. Picture packets were sent home with students on the 27th of September. If you are interested in purchasing school pictures please complete the form and send in with your student.

Upcoming Assemblies:
The first one is a Holocaust survivor.  He will be speaking to 7th and 8th grade students on Tuesday, October 24th from 12:45-2:45 PM in the gym.  This will be during 8th grade elective time so we are expecting the MLTs will watch the 8th graders and 7th grade teachers will accompany their classes.  8th grade teachers are more than welcome to come!

The second will be for our 6th grade students.  They will be seeing a play called "People Like Vince".  This will be on Monday, November 13th from 9:22-10:44.  It will include a play and an interactive workshop that will be geared toward 6th graders.  This will be during their elective classes as well.

Newton KNight Out a Success
Bad Daddy’s restaurant night was a great success!  We raised $610 for Newton’s Annual Fund Drive.  Thanks to all who participated.  To date, the PTO has collected $23,240 for Newton’s Annual Fund Drive.

Next week, we begin our Fund Drive homeroom contest.  The contest will engage students in the fund drive, helping them understand the importance of philanthropy and the reasons for giving.  Our goal for the Fund Drive is twofold. First, we hope to collect $30,000 for school improvements.  Second, we are aiming for 100% participation by Newton families.  To this end, the homeroom in each grade with the highest number of families participating in the Fund Drive between July 1 and October 31 will win an ice cream sundae party!

You can click here to make a donation via Paypal today.  You can also bring your check or cash to the main office at Newton.  The suggested donation amount is $125 per student. Detailed information about the Annual Fund Drive, including the Paypal link, is available on the Newton website under NMS PTO Fund Drive.  Thank you for supporting the Newton PTO!

Have a great weekend.
