August 24th, 2018

Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

I want to thank everyone who attended our Back To School Night last night. We had a great turnout and appreciate all of you support. We are looking forward to another great school year.

Picture day will be on Monday, August 27th and scheduled throughout the day with each grade level. Students will received their picture packets in homeroom yesterday. Please complete the information in the packet and return with your student on Monday. Students need to dress appropriately and follow our dress code. You can also access the picture information online by going to mylifetouch.com. You will need to access Isaac Newton Middle School, Picture Day ID: CG018278Y0.

Please access this link if you have questions regarding the dress code.

We will again be asking parents to serve on our building accountability committee this year. We will meet the following dates: September 20th, October 25th, November 15th, January 17th and February 28th.These meetings will begin at 4:00 pm and adjourn around 5:00 pm. and will be held in our library. If you are interested please email me and I’ll be able to send you the agenda for each meeting ahead of time.

Our building notes are also posted on our website under the explore tab, go to the get involved section and you will see the Newton Accountability tab, click on that and the notes will pop up. I will also need a person to represent Newton at our district level accountability meeting and serve as a liaison to our committee. If you are interested in serving in that capacity please contact me.

I had some parent conversations at back to school night last night regarding the board going forward with the bond in November and why are they recommending a new building for Newton?? People expressed that the rumor in the community is that we need a new building due to the traffic on Arapahoe. As you may know the traffic on Arapahoe has always been a safety concern on my behalf for our students.

However, this is not the main reason the board is proposing a new building for Newton. The reason for this proposal is plain and simple….our building is in horrible shape, falling apart and needs to be replaced! It is long overdue. A new building would also host a professional development center for the district and include a new junior stadium on our site to host sporting events for district. This would be a great new asset for our school and community. I am providing links for you to view that will highlight the phases of building a new school and totally rebuilding our property. If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Have a great weekend.

Principal, Newton Middle School
