CHROMEBOOK CHECK IN

Students will turn in their chrome books on Monday May 19 or Tuesday May 20 of the last week of school!  They will be required to turn in their Chrome Book Charger in addition to their chrome book.  I will send out some more reminders when it gets closer!

Tik Tok Trend

This is a legit concern.  Students can put pencil lead in the side of the computer and the lead heats up and starts to smoke and can 100% catch fire and the battery can explode.  Please remind your children that what they see on social media is not to be replicated in real life and can result in very real consequences at school and possibly legal ramifications.  This is a great time to talk with your children about their social media habits.

Pay your fees and fines!!

Please take a look in your parent portal.  We have many outstanding fees!!

8th Grade Dance THIS Thursday

Plans for the 8th grade dance are underway. All 8th graders are invited to attend the FREE 8th grade only dance on Thursday, May 15th at 5pm-6:30pm in the Newton gym. Additionally, students can pre-pay for food items at lunch this upcoming week. Students may use cash or CODE cards. 8th grade parents: If you would like to donate food items to help fundraise for student council events, please use this SignUp Genius to donate. Concessions donations link here.

STUCO Update

Skate City flyers are here for the discounted Summer passes so your student (and their siblings) can skate all summer long! Details are in the grade level Google Classrooms, or the order link can be found here.

Spirit week will be held the LAST week of school! Details for the day's themes will be out soon.

Library Books are due!

As we approach the end of the school year, please return any overdue library books. Check backpacks, bedrooms, and cars. Every book makes a difference. We kindly ask that all late books be returned by Friday, May 16th so we have time to get everything organized before the last day of school.

If a book has been lost, there will be a fine to help cover the cost of replacement. We truly appreciate your support and understanding.

Shout out to PTO

Picking your child up early… What to do???

Just a friendly reminder that if you are going to pick your child up during the school day, PLEASE CALL AHEAD.  If you have an appt at 3pm, call long before then.  It can take upwards of 15 minutes to get your child to the office if you just show up without alerting us ahead of time.

Some options:

  • Call the attendance line

  • Put it in the parent portal in the morning

  • Call the main office line

Remember that you being in a rush does not mean we will be able to find them any faster.

From our Mental Health Team:

Here is some information from our Mental Health team at Newton! Please take a moment to read some information from our Social Workers! They are amazing!!
