PTO Is Looking for Volunteers for the 2022-2023 School Year:

  • Vice President: this role is a sit-and-watch role to prepare you for the following year as president. You show up to meetings and ask all the questions you need to take over for the 2023-2024 school year. There are lots of documents to share to make for an easy transition.

    • The President's role is not too involved and has some fantastic perks.

    • 3 meetings a month -- 1 with the District's PTO Presidents Council (the District superintendent [Ewert] & an LPS Board member also attends), 1 with Mr. O'Tremba just before the PTO meeting and finally the PTO meeting.

    • The Newton PTO board is fantastic and pretty self-sufficient, so this role mostly entails making the agenda, running the meeting and letting them do their stuff.

    • This is a great way to really feel like you're a part of these quick middle school years, get to know the school principal and District superintendent, and is a bonus on a resume.

  • Annual fund outreach and communication coordinator: help promote and share the status of the annual fund campaign by writing blurbs for Mr. O'Tremba to include in the weekly email.

  • 7th Grade Celebration Coordinator: New next year will be grade level celebrations to help build class community. We need someone to work with our VIPS coordinator to plan the one for 7th grade.

  • Community Relations Co-Coordinator: work with our returning coordinator to support the LPSF Stride and the spring Shred-a-Thon.

  • Members at Large: join us for meetings and be in the know!

*Ideally members will also attend meetings online or in-person, but we understand that may not always be possible.

Thanks and have a great weekend.

James O’Tremba

Principal, Newton Middle School
