May 17th, 2022

Good Evening Parents, Guardians and Students:

Yearbooks will be distributed to 8th graders on Wednesday during lunch and 6th and 7th graders Thursday during lunch.  Everyone who ordered and paid for a yearbook will receive one this week.  Due to supply chain issues with our publisher there will be no additional yearbooks available for purchase this year.

However, any student who was not able to purchase a yearbook will be able to pick up a yearbook signature booklet during distribution.   This way friends can still write messages and students will have a token to remember this year.

As we are winding down the school year please see the attached schedule for the final week of school. Please note that the eighth grade will have continuation rehearsal the morning of May 18th at 11:05 am.  Eight graders will need to report to school on Wednesday at the regular report time. We will conduct our continuation/recognition awards ceremony for the eighth graders at 2:00 pm on May 19th.

Our eighth graders do not need to report to school on the 19th until 1:30 pm in order to line up for the continuation. They will need to enter the building through our athletic entrance. Our eighth graders are also not required to attend on the 20th as this is an early release day and we will be conducting our recognition and awards ceremonies for our sixth and seventh graders. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

Eighth grade students will need to report to the cafeteria on Thursday per our instructions given during our rehearsal. Parents and guests will need to enter through the athletic entrance and go down the stairs to the gym and enter through the first set of double doors. We will have parent seating in the bleachers and approximately 100 chairs set up behind the student section on the gym floor. If you need elevator access please enter the athletic entrance and take an immediate left and someone will be at the elevator to assist you.

We will conduct our eighth grade recognition and awards ceremony first and then our continuation portion of the event. Each student will be recognized and receive a continuation certificate. Once the ceremony is completed the eighth graders will be dismissed for the end of the year.

A reminder for students to sort through our lost and found items in the cafeteria as we have several items that are looking for their home. We will discard or donate all of the items in the cafeteria on Monday, May 23rd.

A huge thank you to our community! Your generous contributions to the PTO Annual Fund and PTO sign-up requests, allowed PTO to organize gifts of gratitude for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. We received many, many notes of gratitude from our incredible faculty, and PTO wanted to make sure we shared their gratitude (and ours!) with all of you. Without your support, we couldn't make this happen. Thank you!

Here's an overview of how we put your donations to work this week. Please check our Facebook page for pictures (>Newton Middle School PTO).

  • Free Car Wash Coupon

  • Burger Bus Food Truck

  • Coffee Cart

  • Taco Bar

  • Snack Attack snack bar

Students, we are quickly approaching the end of the school year. Finish strong, do your best and have a great last week of school.

Have a great evening and again please feel free to contact me with any questions.
