 Good Evening Parents/Guardians and Students:

Newton Accountability Information:

We will begin our Newton Accountability Committee work next week with our first meeting at 4:00 pm here at Newton. I am seeking parents who are interested in serving on our committee. We meet approximately once a month at 4:00 pm until approximately 5:00 or 5:15. The dates for the year are as follows. If you are interested please email me and I’ll send out the agenda for the September meeting next week. Thanks for your interest!

September:    22nd

October:         27th

November:     17th

January:         19th

February:       16th

Classrooms Need Tissues:

This year we missed putting a very important supply on the school supply list: Tissues. The average classroom uses 20-30 boxes per year. Most rooms have already run out as they used the very last of their supply from the previous year. This could be a long and germy winter without them! Would you be willing to send a box to school with your student? Your child can drop it off to their Homeroom teacher or to the Main Office and we will disperse from there. Thank you so much! We'll be sure to add this item back to the supply list next year so we can start classrooms off with what they will need.

Save the Date!

Our first Newton Restaurant Knight Out for this school year is Wednesday, 9/21 at Bad Daddy's Burger Bar from 5-9 pm. If placing a to-go order, orders need to be placed from the website. Dining in is also an option. 10% of all sales that evening will be donated to Newton.

** Because Bad Daddy's participates in the Streets of Southglenn Street Smarts program, you can upload your receipt  here to help Newton raise even more money from this event! **

NEWTON ANNUAL PTO FUND DRIVE INFORMATION:

Every year the Newton Middle School PTO holds ONE primary fundraiser…the PTO Annual FundDrive, where 100% of donations are directly deposited into the PTO account. This means there are no fees withheld by third parties, no students serving as sales force on their neighborhood streets during a pandemic, etc. This year our goal is to raise $30,000. We are recommending a donation of $150 per family – less than a dollar-a-day that our students are in school. EVERY GIFT COUNTS!

For additional information and how you can contribute please check out this link

Newton School Spirit Wear Opportunity:

We are offering an online Newton School Spirit Wear opportunity for all of our students. Please access this link for additional information and to purchase specific items.

BUY A YEARBOOK

This year, Newton will be selling yearbooks directly from our publisher, Herff-Jones.  So all yearbooks will be purchased directly from our publisher and will be delivered to students at school in May.  Yearbooks are $40, and there is a $3.99 processing fee, for a total book cost of $43.99.

To order, click on this link:

https://www.yearbookordercenter.com/?event=general.displayLanding&jobnumber=7571 or visit yearbookordercenter.com and enter "7571" for your school code.

Be Real App:

This is a phone app that students can use to take reverse pictures, basically the way the app works is you give your phone to someone and ask them to take your picture, the phone then takes a picture of the person holding the phone. Students should not have their phones out while here at school. If students use this app unknowingly with other students there can/will be consequences here at school including our SRO being involved if we feel there is any intention of harassment.

Arapahoe HIgh School Important Information:

Arapahoe High School is thrilled to announce our 2022 8th Grade Shadow Days for the Class of 2027! This is an incredible opportunity for current 8th grade students to visit our building and experience Arapahoe High School. In response to the overwhelming positive feedback we’ve had from previous events, this year we will once again be inviting parents/guardians to participate in the experience with their children. While students are experiencing class visits, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of our principal, Mrs. Pramenko, and take a tour of our building.

Shadow days will take place on Sept 29, Oct 25, Nov 17 or Feb 3 with options for either a morning (8:00-10:30am) or afternoon (12:30-3:00pm) session. The capacity for each session is 50 students. Students will be able to bring a maximum of 1 parent/guardian to the event. The sign-ups will be posted soon on the Incoming Freshmen Page and on the AHS Website.

Thanks and have a great weekend.
