October 7th, 2022

 Good Evening Parents/Guardians and Students:

Parent/Teacher Conferences:

Traditionally we have conducted arena style conferences at Newton and invited all parents into our building to check in and speak with their child's teachers directly. This conversation was limited to five minutes and parents standing in line to see a specific teacher sometimes up to an hour. Based on feedback last year by our parent community who attended conferences this seems to be an ineffective manner in which to conduct business.

This year we will not be offering the traditional arena style conference format in October. I encourage you to review your child’s grades in the parent portal. We will be scheduling conferences as needed with parents and students either in person or virtually similar to our early bird conferences in September. If you have specific questions for a specific teacher please feel free to email the teacher at any time during the year to check in or receive updates.

Halloween:

This year for Halloween students will be able to dress in costume for the day. Our Newton dress code needs to be followed. Students can wear makeup, however no masks covering their faces are allowed, we need to be able to identify all students. Students are also not allowed to bring any weapon facsimiles. If you have any questions regarding a costume please feel free to contact any administrator.

Newton Middle School After School Activities:

Just a reminder to all parents and students. If a student is out ill or out for any other reason for the entire school day they will not be allowed to participate in after school activities. We have had several students show up for after school activities who have not been in school for the day and then we need to send them home. If you have any questions please let me know. Thanks for your assistance.
