Good Evening Parents, Guardians and Students:

Clinic Para Opening:

Newton is looking to fill our clinic para position!  Our clinic para is responsible for providing care to sick/injured students, maintaining immunization records, administering medications as needed and more!  This position will assist in greeting and assisting students, parents, staff and visitors in the Counseling office as needed.  The position is 7 hours a day.  Please visit the district website for details and to apply.

PTO NEWS:

We only have 2 Restaurant Knights left for the school year and we'd appreciate your support! Earnings from these restaurants go straight back to our school to support our students this academic year.

* Our next one is Tuesday, 1/24 at Mici Italian at Streets of Southglenn. 11 am - 9 pm. Must use code "SCHOOL" when placing order. Includes dine-in, take out, delivery and catering orders. (Orders from 3rd party delivery companies do not count toward fundraiser.)

* Bonus: you can also submit your receipt after this event to the Street Smarts at the Streets of Southglenn for more points for Newton!

Happy New Year Newton Community!  The first half of our school year wrapped up with much cheer being spread thanks to your generous donation dollars. We want to say a giant "thank you", let you know how your donations are being spent and also acknowledge the wonderful volunteers who make it happen.

So far the Knight Fundraising Drive has brought in a total of just over $21,000. With a goal of $25,000, we're very close to being able to fund everything we'd like. We bring in additional money through our Restaurant Knights (Mici's on 1/24), King Soopers, AmazonSmile (ending in Feb), LPSF Sports Nights, corporate matching, CO Gives, Box Tops, and Street Smarts of Southglenn. Click on the links for more information or visit the our page on the Newton website

The Holiday Cheer campaign raised right around $5000! With that money, PTO brought in a coffee cart and some adorable student elf volunteers to deliver warm beverages for the staff. Every Newton staff member was also given $50 in gift cards for Amazon and/or King Soopers to spend how they wanted during the holidays. Everyone was so appreciative of the generosity of our community. See pictures here

Almost $8500 of your Knight Fundraising dollars have been distributed as listed below. Thank you all for your support in making these gifts happen!

  • $2500 to Newton teachers who requested big ticket wish list items through the PTO Teacher Grant program. Congratulations Mr. Wood, Ms. Hines, Ms. May, Ms. Newman, Ms. Carstensen, Ms. Timinski and Ms. Jenkins! For details on what they asked for and received, click here

  • $2400 to Newton to pay for Reading Counts, the online program that supports our entire student body by providing additional independent reading instruction and assessment.

  • $2000 to Newton teachers who requested reimbursement for classroom materials they purchased out of pocket.

  • $500 to purchase supplies for the CODE carts.

  • $500 to Options Secondary School for a back to school luncheon after break. They do not have their own PTO, so this is a wonderful contribution to support other amazing staff in our District. They were extremely grateful and enjoyed a meal from Cafe Rio. See their thank you here.

  • $350 to the District's Joint PTO scholarship committee that awards grants to District teachers through an intensive application process.

  • $200 to support the successful fall Book Fair.

The rest of your donation dollars will be put to good use as follows during this second semester.

  • $200 towards the teachers' Retirement Tea

  • $200 for Spirit Basket donation to the LPSF silent auction

  • $500 for teacher appreciation on February 14

  • $1500 for Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week in May (and $1000 in gift cards earned from our Streets of Southglenn award last year)

  • $2000 to various administration costs for PTO (Quickbooks, website maintenance, taxes and operating expenses)

  • Approximately $18,000 (or more if possible) to Newton to contribute to the hiring costs of our amazing mental health team

Thank you to our incredible volunteers for all of your time and care in making our volunteer service so rewarding -- Ben Berres, Catherine Jones, Michelle Larsen, Rob Rock, Lisa Patterson, Leslie Suh, Alli Clinton, Lisa Svede, Jill VanAbbema, Olga Marlangoutsos, Missy Crew, Betsy Brouillette, Tracy Duhig, Kate Dore, Kim Schissler, Niki Spiers, Christine Izzo, Deb Kennedy, Eva Seal & all others who've participated in meetings or elsewhere.
