April 5th, 2024

 Good Evening Parents, Guardians and Students:

IMPORTANT CMAS INFORMATION;

We will begin our CMAS testing on Monday, April 8th. Please refer to this link to our schedule here. Students will need to be on time for the testing and have their chromebooks charged and ready to go. If students are late to school they will not be able to enter the testing classroom and will be escorted to the library until the test is completed and the student will then need to make that test up at a later date. It is imperative for students to be on time for the testing.

If your student has opted out you can either keep your student at home and bring them in when we begin our regular classes, please refer to the link above for the testing schedule, if you do not have the ability to keep your student home or they ride a bus the students who opt out are welcome to enter the school at 8:20 and go to the library. Opted out students can read or work on any homework they may have.

We will not do morning announcements until after the CMAS testing is completed each day. Announcements will occur at the beginning of the first block.

If you have any questions regarding any aspect of CMAS testing please contact myself, Ms. Gambrell or Mr. Wyckhuyse.

END OF YEAR INFORMATION:

End of year schedule and information specific to 8th graders will be sent out on Wednesday, April 10 with an invitation to continuation for all parents and students. You will receive a weekly reminder from me each Wednesday until the end of the school year. For the last week of school schedule please access this link. Again, more specific information for 8th graders will be arriving in your inbox next week. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.

STUCO:

Student Council here! Firstly, thank you to our students and staff who participated all week long in Spirit Week before Spring Break - we loved seeing all of your theme day ideas and good attitudes! Enjoy a short video highlighting the great time we had at Skate City this semester.

We would also love to extend our most sincere gratitude to all of the parents, students, and staff, with the incredible support of sponsors and students of NJHS, who contributed to our partnership with AHS’s Warrior Week and the Make-A-Wish campaign for Alyson! In just one week, we managed to raise over $1,400 dollars (!!!) that was handed off to our high school student partners at the Friday assembly. Please enjoy the highlight clip of this special moment. We are grateful to be a part of such a generous community, and we can’t wait for more opportunities to bring together the school spirit of the Newton Knights!

Gratefully,

Teacher sponsors Mrs. Jenkins / Mrs. Sutton and StuCo members

SOLAR ECLIPSE INFORMATION:
We will conduct indoor recess during the eclipse on Monday as the eclipse coincides with the beginning of our lunches. If you would like for your student to experience the eclipse we are asking for you to check them out at the main office during their lunch time. To keep all students safe we will not be conducting any experiences with the eclipse here at Newton on Monday. It also looks like a 50% chance of rain during lunches at this time for Monday which would also constitute an indoor day.
