October 4th, 2024

Good afternoon Newton Community!  Hope you all had a great week and have a restful weekend!!

Prospective Parent Meetings at Newton start this Wednesday!!

Do you know some awesome families that are looking to join Newton Middle School next school year, but they don’t live in the Newton boundaries… please have them attend our first Prospective Parent Meeting THIS Wednesday, in our PD Rooms.  We will host one in Nov, Dec and Jan as well.  They do not need to sign up, but they can just come on in!!  It’s this Wednesday at 10am, sharp!

Lost and Found:

It was another warm week here in Colorado!! That being said, lots of students are wearing hoodies to school and then leaving them on the playground.  It’s also possible that 90% of your family's water bottles are currently in the Lost and Found at Newton! 🙂

We empty our Lost and Found quarterly, so over the next two weeks, please encourage your kids to look for their favorite clothes and bottles to bring back home!  Deadline is Oct 16!

Checking Students Out Early:

If you are going to pick your student up early we respectfully ask that you inform the office ahead of time and do not arrive unannounced.  If you arrive unannounced there may be a significant delay in locating your student if they are in a class such as PE or Knight Time/Reading Block, or their class is in the library, or another space in the building, when it may be difficult to reach the teacher.  Please understand that we have a large school and it can take time to get them to the office and we appreciate your patience.  We understand that calling ahead of time may be a change for you but, that is a practice that we would like to continue using.

An early release pass can be requested in the following ways:

Leave a message on the attendance line (303) 347-7905

Log into Infinite Campus, and request pick up.

In a last minute emergency, call the main school line (303) 347-7900.

7th/8th Grade Band and Orchestra Concert

This Wednesday we have our first Band/Orchestra concert for our 7th and 8th Grade Band Concerts, as well as our Jazz Band.  *No 6th Grade band/orchestra this time…

The call time for students is 6:40pm and the concert starts at 7pm sharp.  Doors open at 6:30 and feel free to bring a cushion for the learning stairs.  See you then!!

Picture Day Retake

Picture retake day will be October 11th.  If your child missed school on Picture Day, we will make sure they get their picture taken on Friday. If you need a picture retake, we need a picture packet request to do so… if you have any questions reach out to Jessica Schultz jaschultz@lps.k12.co.us

High School Visits for current 8th Graders:

Arapahoe High School Info:

Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! Arapahoe High School continues to be a leading school in the south Denver Metro area focused on our  excellence, tradition and innovation!  As your current 8th graders, the Class of 2029, start exploring their high school options we hope they will consider our storied institution to Become A Warrior!

AHS is excited to announce the dates for our popular Shadow Day program.  This is an incredible opportunity for current 8th grade students as Shadow Days provide a unique perspective for future warriors to experience the Arapahoe High School culture alongside current Warriors.   We continue to encourage parents/guardians to participate in the day with their children. While students are observing classes, parents will have the opportunity to ask questions of our principal, Mrs. Natalie Pramenko, and take a tour of our building.

Shadow days will take place on Oct 24, and Nov 12, with options for either a morning or an afternoon session. The capacity for each session is 60 students. Students will only be able to bring a maximum of 1 parent to the shadow day. Feel free to sign up for your shadow days here!

Additionally, our Freshman Showcase will be on October 30th from 6:00 - 8:00 pm.

Littleton High School Info:

Littleton High School, home of the Littleton Lions, is delighted to welcome eighth graders from Newton Middle School to visit LHS. Our visits are specially designed with both large- and small-group sessions for parents (with LHS administrators) and 8th grade shadows (with LHS students). There will be ample time to ask questions, get answers, experience our school culture, and tour the campus. Families arrive by 9:15 am and are dismissed by 11:30 am, allowing students to return to school and not miss an entire day. Our tour dates are October 15, October 29, November 12, and November 19. Sign up on our website here.

Heritage High School Info:

We want the chance to share our love of Heritage High School with your students.  We look forward to meeting you and sharing what we think makes Heritage such a special place to be!  Go Eagles!
