October 17th, 2013

Hello Parents/Guardians:

I want to thank everyone for attending our parent/teacher conferences. We’ve had a great first quarter and are looking forward to second quarter. I want to remind you that the grades that were just posted are first quarter progress grades. Students will receive their first semester grades during winter break. The grades for first semester are the official grades that are posted to the student’s official transcript.

I want to extend congratulations to Marc Finer for receiving the Order of the Filament Award at the Colorado Technology Education Association conference on Friday, October 4, 2013.

The "Order of the Filament" is a prestigious award given to those who are dedicated and inspirational and whose main objective is to further the goals of the association through service and teaching. The Order of the Filament" is the highest honor that an association member can bestow on a fellow member.

In addition to being an active member and a Board Member of CTEA (Colorado Technology Education Association), he was recognized for his passion and dedication to the profession. As said in the presentation:
  • This year's recipient is a hard-working individual and is always striving to make not only his program but the district Technology education program as strong as it can be. This individual is actively involved in STEM committees and state curriculum planning groups and continually desires to grow in the profession. Marc is respected by many for his knowledge in the field and passion for STEM and Technology Education.

Congratulations Marc - well deserved!

I hope the students enjoy their four day weekend. If you are traveling have a safe trip and we will resume school on Monday the 21st of October.

Respectfully,

James O’Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
