Good Afternoon
Parents/Guardians:
I want to
thank everyone who attended our back to school night on Tuesday evening. We had
a terrific turn out and enjoyed having our parents visit our school. I hope you
found the information useful and informative. I encourage parents to visit our
website on a regular basis as it is packed full of information and is a helpful
resource for parents. An important tab for parents is the quick info. tab on
the front of the website. This includes all of our upcoming events and
important calendar items for the year.
On back to
school night we received several questions regarding the district required ID
number needed to activate the Infinite Campus Mobile Portal. The district
required ID is: YPGLLP
I am attaching
an application for parents regarding our district accountability committee. The
district is seeking at large members. If you are interested please follow the
instructions to apply.
We are also
looking for PTO and accountability committee members here at Newton. Our PTO
meetings are generally the first Thursday of each month at 9:30 am and our
accountability meetings are generally the third Thursday of the month at 4:00
pm. You are invited to our first PTO meeting of the year which will be held on
Thursday, September 4th at 9:30 am in room 101. Please check in at the main
office.
I also
encourage you to give to our PTO sponsored Brighter Future Pledge Drive. This
fundraiser is in place of students selling such items as magazines, butter
braids etc. The pledge drive will fund the PTO budget for the year and provide
such items as: capital improvements including supporting the mini theater
upgrades, outside facility and signage and possibly refinishing our gym floor
next summer. It also assists in improving utilities budgets through
student-driven tracking software/hardware programs. Our PTO also supports
special staff endeavors to enrich student experiences via non-budgeted projects
and purposes.
For additional
information regarding the Brighter Future Pledge Drive and how to give please
access the front page of our website. Remember your donation is 100% tax
deductible!
This year we
have several new Chrome Books in our school and have expanded some of our math
programs to be an internet based program. In the past we have not felt the need
to charge students for breakage of our netbooks, laptops, chrome books etc.
However, this year with limited budget and the need for replacing these items
we will charge students/families the full replacement value of the equipment
that is broken. Please remind your students to be very careful with this
equipment.
LPS is proud
to announce that we will again be accredited with distinction through the
Colorado Department of Education. This is the fifth consecutive year. We are
very proud to be a part of this recognition!
We are off to
a great start, if you have any questions or concerns feel free to contact me.
Have a great Labor Day Weekend!
Respectfully,
James O'Tremba
Principal,
Newton Middle School
