Good Afternoon Parents and Guardians:

Please read the attached letter about our upcoming CODE AWARDS. We have many wonderful things happening every day at Newton and we want to honor our students for following the CODE and you can be a part of this. We want to engage our community in the nomination process. The specific information is attached! Thank you in advance for your participation!

I'm going to share some general information regarding PARCC and CMAS testing this spring. I will share the final detailed schedule with you before spring break. Students will be testing in their Language Arts and Math classes beginning April 4th to the 11th. We will need to have a revised master schedule during this time. April 12th, 8th grade will test Language Arts only. April 13th to the 15th 8th grade students will be testing CMAS Science in their Science or Social Studies classes.

I hope this gives you a general idea of the testing calendar this spring. There will only be one window beginning in April this year as compared to the dual March and April testing window the state required last year.

On Saturday, April 30th from 9 am to 11:45 am the Arapahoe Credit Union located west of Newton will be conducting a free paper shred-a-thon that will benefit Newton Middle School. Additional information was sent out via our March PTO newsletter. We will continue to update you regarding this event as it draws closer.

As of April 29th, students will not be permitted to charge to their meal account. Please watch your child's account to make certain there is enough money to purchase meals through the end of the year. Any leftover funds will roll forward to the next school year. If your student owes money, please pay the balance prior to the end of the school year. Payments may be made to the cafeteria or online at MySchoolBucks.com.

If you have any questions concerns please feel free to contact me. Enjoy the beautiful Colorado weather and your weekend.

Respectfully,
James O'Tremba
Principal, Newton Middle School
